End screens, stills and exports

The last stretch of the video built to hold end screen elements, full-resolution stills for your thumbnail, and files ready to upload.

End screens

YouTube lets you add end screen elements in the last 5 to 20 seconds of a video: a link to another video or playlist, a subscribe button, a link to a channel. You add them in YouTube Studio after upload. Our part is to build the closing seconds so they fit. That means a clean background or a held shot, your voice or music carrying on underneath, and nothing important in the spots where the elements will sit.

On the chapter rings drawn on this site, that window is the dark orange arc at the end. We plan it from the first cut, so the video doesn't stop dead and then leave twenty seconds of blank screen.

Pointing to the next video

An end screen works best when the video leads into it. If you know which video you want people to watch next, tell us, and the last line of the edit can set it up. We'll keep it short and plain.

Thumbnail stills

We don't design thumbnails, but we pull full-resolution stills for them. While cutting, we mark frames where your expression is clear, the product is sharp, or the result looks its best, and send them as image files at the video's full size. That gives whoever makes the thumbnail better material than a screenshot.

Exports and delivery

Cards during the video

YouTube also allows cards, small prompts that appear during the video to point at another video or playlist. Like end screens, you add them in Studio. If you want them, we'll send a short list of timestamps where a card fits, such as the moment you mention an earlier video.

Questions

Do you add the end screen elements?

No. They are added in YouTube Studio by whoever manages the channel. We build the video so they fit and send a note on where each one should go.

Can you deliver in 4K?

Yes, if the footage was recorded in 4K. We export at the resolution you filmed and can send a smaller copy for review.

Got a long recording waiting to be cut? Tell us how much footage there is, roughly how long the finished video should run, and how often you post.
